The members of the
Finance Commission
ask you to seriously consider making your contributions via automatic withdrawal.
Doing so will help the parish is several ways:
- First, it will help with the cash flow by ensuring that contributions
are not missed if you are out of town or attend a different parish on a weekend.
- Second, it will reduce our monthly bank fees because there are
fewer checks per month that we need to process.
- Third, it will reduce our mailing costs because we do not need
to send out envelopes to those who participate.
You can download the
Automatic Withdrawal Form (PDF format)
or stop by the Parish Center
and pick one up.
If you fill out the form in person, you will need a voided check.
Here are some questions that face us daily in life looked
at from the perspective of American Culture as contrasted with
Stewardship.
1) How Much Do I Have?
American Culture: Never enough. You can never have too much
of anything. Your glass is always half empty. If you want to be
happy, get a bigger house, a nicer car, take a more expensive
vacation, and buy more luxurious clothes.
Christian Faith: Your glass is half full, not half empty. In
fact, your glass is overflowing.
2) Where Did It Come From?
American Culture: From you. You pulled yourself up by your
bootstraps and earned it all by the sweat of your brow.
Christian Faith: It came from God; it belongs to God now and one
day you will return it to God. Everything you have is on loan to
you. You are a steward entrusted with the care of God’s blessings.
3) What Should I Do With It?
American Culture: Keep it, accumulate it and protect it. It is
your piece of the pie and you have the right to enjoy it any way you want.
Christian Faith: Show your gratitude by returning a portion of
what you have received to God.
4) What About the Future?
American Culture: You are the captain of your own destiny,
the master of your own fate. You alone are responsible for providing
for your future and the future of your loved ones.
Christian Faith: Take a leap of faith. Trust that God will
provide for what you need, though not necessarily everything that
you want. God cannot be outdone in generosity.
As you read through this, which side do you find yourself
relating to the most? Is it time to take stock of your Christian
Faith and see how it is lived out in your daily life and attitudes?
