The Final Chamber Works of Brahms and Rachmaninov
The Final Chamber Works of Brahms and Rachmaninov is a program that focuses on the subject of finality in multiple senses of the word. Brahms’s Sonata for Viola and Piano Op. 120 No. 2 in E Flat Major and Rachmaninov’s Sonata Op. 19 in G minor for Cello and Piano (arr. for viola) constitute the bulk of the program. In addition to these works, the duo is performing the iconic Spiegel Im Spiegel by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt (which was just recently featured in a Super Bowl Jeep Cherokee advertisement) and they will be premiering a new work commissioned by Vis-À-Vis and written in 2017 by Los Angeles based mezzo-soprano and composer, Shaye Swanson.
Duo Vis-À-Vis (https://www.duovisavis.com/) aims to bring engaging and explorative chamber music performances to communities across the country and share their love for musical collaboration and expression. The duo is comprised of violist and violinist Brandin Kreuder, and pianist, Craig Jordan. Mr. Kreuder is a native of Burlington, Wisconsin, and a 2016 graduate of Lawrence University and Conservatory where he earned a B.A. in Studio Art and a B.M. in Violin Performance. He anticipates graduating with his MM in May 2018 from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, where he studied viola with virtuoso violist Jodi Levitz. Craig Jordan, from Ames, Iowa, is a junior at the Lawrence Conservatory of Music pursuing his Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance under the teaching of Dr. Catherine Kautsky, emphasizing in Collaborative Piano. They are currently beginning their 5th concert tour, The Final Chamber Works of Brahms and Rachmaninov.
Since their debut in spring 2016, Duo Vis-A-Vis has performed four recital tours taking them to the Netherlands, Wisconsin, Iowa, Florida, Missouri, Colorado, and Massachusetts. Their recent tour Clarke & Brahms brought the duo to their widest variety of performance locations yet. One of these performances being their debut international performance in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
