Mardi Gras The Alternative Way
Join Great Books and God at 6:30pm on Tuesday, February 17th when we meet to discuss Eager to Love: The Alternative Way of Francis of Assisi (Franciscan Media, 2014) by Richard Rohr, O.F.M.
St. Francis of Assisi found an “alternative way” to follow Jesus, one that disregarded power and privilege and held fast to the narrow path of the Gospel. Author, Richard Rohr, O.F.M., draws on Scripture, insights from psychology, and literary and artistic references, to weave together an understanding of St. Francis in a way that can deepen and enrich our spiritual lives. St. Francis was, as Rohr notes, “a master of ‘making room for it’ and letting go of that which was tired or empty.”
Eager to Love is not a biography, but an examination of themes in Francis’s ministry that can help inspire and motivate people of faith. Francis of Assisi focused primarily on loving and being in solidarity with the poor, suffering, and outcast.
