This Old Church
Join Great Books and God at 6:30pm on Tuesday, November 18th when we meet to discuss our eighth book, Fr. Michael Crosby’s Repair My House: Becoming a “Kindom” Catholic. (Orbis Books, 2012)
“Repair my house.” was the instruction that St. Francis of Assisi heard from a crucifix in a ruined chapel, inspiring his radical mission of church renewal. Today some say the Catholic Church confronts the need for a similar mission of repair and renewal.
In response, Fr. Michael Crosby sees a challenge to the Church to return to the basic message of Jesus Christ, a message that is supported, not contradicted, by advances in science and cosmology. Crosby envisions a new way of being Catholic and a set of practices that draws on the contemplative, compassionate, and life-giving spirit of Christ’s Kingdom…as he calls it, the “Kindom.”
Great Books and God is an “open enrollment” book club. Members choose the books we read and can join at any time. If you have questions, contact Dean at deanvaeth@comcast.net or just drop in on Tuesday, November 18th in the Parish Center at 6:30pm for discussion and light snacks. Bring the book. Bring a friend.
